Usage Note
Ravager is a strong verb implying wholesale destruction — une tempête a ravagé la côte ('a storm ravaged the coast'). The related noun ravage is most often used in the plural: les ravages de la guerre ('the ravages of war'). Like other -ger verbs, it keeps an e before -ons (nous ravageons) to preserve the soft-g sound.
Examples
"La tempête a ravagé le village côtier."
Natural Translation
The storm devastated the coastal village.
