Usage Note

Mener means to lead, conduct, or take someone somewhere (mener les enfants à l'école, to take the children to school). It is also used for leading an investigation (mener une enquête) or for a team being ahead in a score (l'équipe mène 2-0). It follows an eè stem change in conjugation (je mène, tu mènes). Compare amener (to bring along) and emmener (to take away).
