Guérisseur denotes a traditional or informal healer, often implying folk medicine or spiritual healing outside conventional medicine — closer to 'faith healer' than 'doctor'. The feminine is guérisseuse. It should not be confused with médecin (licensed doctor) or thérapeute (therapist). The verb guérir means 'to heal' or 'to cure'.
