Usage Note

Affamé is the past participle of affamer (to starve) used as an adjective. It can describe literal hunger (je suis affamé — I'm starving) or metaphorical hunger (affamé de connaissances — hungry for knowledge). The feminine is affamée. In everyday speech j'ai faim or je meurs de faim is more natural for 'I'm starving'.
