Usage Note

Enthousiasmer is often used reflexively as s'enthousiasmer pour — to become enthusiastic about something. The non-reflexive form takes a direct object: ce projet m'enthousiasme (this project enthuses me). The related noun enthousiasme and adjective enthousiaste share the same root from Greek via Latin.
