Usage Note
Dollar is a direct borrowing into French. Unlike most nouns, it is pronounced with the final r clearly audible, unlike many native French words. It appears in French media and conversation primarily when discussing North American economics, and the plural follows standard French rules: des dollars.
Examples
"Ça coûte vingt dollars."
Natural Translation
That costs twenty dollars.
