Usage Note

vénérer expresses deep reverence, typically for a religious figure, an ancestor, or an icon. It is more intense than admirer and carries a quasi-sacred tone. The noun is la vénération. Vénérer follows the accent-change pattern of -érer verbs: il vénère, nous vénérons.
