venir

to come

verb vuh-NEER Common

Usage Note

Venir builds the recent past, so je viens de manger means 'I've just eaten'. Like aller it takes être in the perfect tense, as in je suis venu, and pairing venir with an infinitive can simply mean 'come to do' something.

Examples

"Viens avec moi."

Natural Translation

Come with me.
