Usage Note

Tropical agrees in gender and number: feminine tropicale, plural tropicaux / tropicales. It describes climates, plants, or anything originating in the tropics. The expression chaleur tropicale ('tropical heat') is a common collocation used hyperbolically to describe very hot weather anywhere.
