Usage Note
Scandaleux follows regular -eux/-euse agreement: the feminine is scandaleuse. It conveys moral shock or indignation and is stronger than simply 'surprising'. The adverb scandaleusement (scandalously) is commonly used to emphasise excess, as in c'est scandaleusement cher.
