Usage Note

Aberration is used in French both scientifically — une aberration optique (optical aberration) — and in everyday speech to mean something utterly illogical or absurd: c'est une aberration! (that's outrageous!). The plural is des aberrations. The adjective aberrant (e/m) is the paired form.
