Feutre has two common meanings: the pressed wool fabric used in hats and crafts, and — in everyday speech — a felt-tip marker or pen (un stylo feutre or simply un feutre). A chapeau de feutre is a felt hat. Children in France routinely ask for des feutres when they want coloured markers for drawing.
