Usage Note
Déboîter means to knock or pull something out of its socket or joint — se déboîter l'épaule means to dislocate one's shoulder. In driving, it also means to pull out of a lane or swerve, as in déboîter brusquement. The opposite is emboîter (to fit together, to snap into place).
