Usage Note
Der is an informal abbreviation of dernier/dernière ('last'), used especially in the phrase c'est le der des ders — originally a WWI expression meaning 'the last of all' (the war to end all wars). Today it is used colloquially for the last round of drinks, the last hand in a card game, or simply the final one of anything. It has a distinctly familiar, spoken register.
Examples
"On fait le der et on rentre."
Natural Translation
We have one last one and then we go home.
