aucuns

none (plural)

determiner oh-KUN Rare

Usage Note

Aucuns is the rare plural form of aucun, used only with nouns that exist solely in the plural — sans aucuns frais ('at no cost') being the most common fixed phrase. Outside those set expressions, singular aucun/aucune is the normal negative determiner. Learners almost never need to produce aucuns actively.

Examples

"Il a voyagé sans aucuns frais."

Natural Translation

He travelled at no cost.

Literal Translation

He has travelled without any costs.
