Usage Note
Demi-frère denotes a half-brother, sharing one parent. The feminine equivalent is demi-sœur ('half-sister'). Both forms are also used for stepbrothers/stepsisters in informal speech, though technically a stepbrother is beau-frère (which also means 'brother-in-law').
Examples
"Mon demi-frère habite à Lyon."
Natural Translation
My half-brother lives in Lyon.
