Usage Note

Damnation is used in religious contexts to mean eternal condemnation to hell, and also as a strong exclamation of anger or frustration in literary French. The related adjective is damné (damned). The phrase les damnés de la terre (the wretched of the earth) is the title of a famous work by Frantz Fanon.
