attitude

attitude, stance

noun ah-tee-TÜD Less Common

Also means

posture

Usage Note

Attitude covers both physical posture (une attitude décontractée — a relaxed posture) and a mental or behavioural stance (une mauvaise attitude — a bad attitude). It is a false friend with English 'altitude' (altitude in French). The plural attitudes follows the standard pattern.
