Verdict is used in French law for a jury's decision and more broadly for any final judgment or conclusion. The final -t is silent: ver-DEE. The expression rendre un verdict means 'to return/deliver a verdict'. In everyday speech, le verdict can refer informally to any definitive assessment, such as a doctor's diagnosis or a critic's review.
