Vanner has two distinct colloquial senses: to tease or mock someone (il arrête pas de me vanner, 'he won't stop taking the mickey out of me') and, separately, to exhaust someone (cette journée m'a vanné, 'that day wiped me out'). In agricultural usage it means to winnow grain. Context disambiguates the sense easily.
