Usage Note

Turc is capitalised only when used as a noun referring to a person (un Turc); as an adjective it stays lowercase (la cuisine turque). The feminine form is turque and the related noun la Turquie means Turkey. The phrase fort comme un Turc ('strong as a Turk') is an old French idiom for exceptional strength.
