Usage Note

Tranquille describes both a person who is calm or at ease and a place that is peaceful and undisturbed. The adverb tranquillement means 'calmly, quietly'. The command laisse-moi tranquille ('leave me alone') is very common in everyday speech and carries a tone ranging from mild annoyance to firm refusal.
