Usage Note

Taffe is informal slang for a drag or puff on a cigarette. It is also spelled taffe or occasionally taf. Faire une taffe means to take a drag. The word is exclusively colloquial and would not appear in formal writing. In some French slang uses, une taffe can also mean a job or task (derived from staff), but the smoking sense is by far the more common.
