Tact is used almost identically to the English word — the social skill of handling sensitive matters carefully. The final t is pronounced. The adjective tactile and the related tactique (tactic) share the Latin root but have distinct meanings. Avec tact (with tact) and manquer de tact (to lack tact) are common collocations.
