soucier

worry, care about

verb soo-SYEH Less Common

Origin: Latin sollicitare (via soucier)

Usage Note

Soucier is almost always used reflexively: se soucier de means 'to care about' or 'to worry about.' Je ne m'en soucie pas means 'I don't care about that.' The related noun is souci (worry, concern) and the adjective soucieux means worried or concerned. It is more formal than the colloquial s'inquiéter.
