Remuer covers physical movement in many forms — stirring a sauce, fidgeting in a chair, or moving a limb. Remuer ciel et terre (literally 'stir heaven and earth') means to move heaven and earth to achieve something. The reflexive se remuer informally means to get moving or bestir oneself.
