Usage Note
Regrettable is a formal-to-neutral adjective applied to situations or behavior that one wishes had not occurred. It is invariable in gender (same form m/f). The adverb regrettablement means 'regrettably'. Unlike English 'regrettable', it does not directly describe the person feeling regret.
