Rappeler is also the reflexive se rappeler, meaning 'to remember' — a common point of confusion with se souvenir. With se rappeler you use a direct object (se rappeler quelque chose), while se souvenir takes de. The non-reflexive rappeler quelqu'un means 'to call someone back' by phone.
