Usage Note

Ranimer means to bring back to life, consciousness, or activity — whether a person (ranimer un blessé — to revive an injured person), a fire (ranimer le feu), or an abstract quality (ranimer l'espoir — to rekindle hope). The reflexive se ranimer means 'to come back to life'. Closely related to animer (to animate).
