Racisme is a masculine noun and refers to racial prejudice and discrimination. The related adjective and noun is raciste (un/une raciste; des propos racistes). In France, racisme is a criminal offence under the loi Pleven of 1972, which prohibits incitement to racial hatred. The broader term discrimination covers discrimination on other grounds as well.
