Usage Note

Réécrire follows the same conjugation pattern as écrire with the prefix ré- indicating repetition. The past participle is réécrit. The related noun la réécriture is common in literary criticism (referring to rewriting or adaptation of source texts) and in computing (URL rewriting). Do not confuse with recopier (to copy out again).
