Usage Note

Profiter is most commonly used with deprofiter de means 'to make the most of' or 'to take advantage of' something (an opportunity, the weather, one's youth). It is not inherently negative; profite bien de tes vacances! means 'enjoy your holidays!'. When it is exploitative, context makes it clear. The noun is profit or bénéfice.
