Usage Note
Pathologique is used both in medicine ('a pathological condition') and informally to describe extreme or irrational behavior, as in un mensonge pathologique ('a compulsive lie'). It agrees in gender and number: pathologique for both masculine and feminine, pathologiques in the plural. The related noun is pathologie ('pathology, disease').
