Usage Note
Paie (also spelled paye) refers to the wages or pay received for work, typically monthly in France (toucher sa paie = to receive one's pay). La fiche de paie is the pay slip. The verb is payer. In informal speech, paie can mean a long time — ça fait une paie means 'it's been ages'.
