Médico-légal describes anything at the intersection of medicine and law — forensic pathology, autopsies, expert medical testimony in court. La médecine légale is forensic medicine as a field. Un médecin légiste is a forensic pathologist (colloquially shortened to légiste). The feminine is médico-légale and the masculine plural is médico-légaux.
