Usage Note
Miroir shares its root with mirer ('to look at, to mirror') and mirage. The expression miroir aux alouettes ('lark mirror', a device once used to attract birds) now means 'lure' or 'fool's gold'. Jeu de miroirs ('hall of mirrors') is both literal and a metaphor for illusion.
Examples
"Elle se regarde dans le miroir."
Natural Translation
She looks at herself in the mirror.
