Lépreux refers literally to a person with leprosy (la lèpre), a bacterial disease. Figuratively, traiter quelqu'un comme un lépreux means to treat someone as a social pariah. The feminine form is lépreuse. The adjective lépreux also describes buildings with peeling, diseased-looking walls.
