Origin: Latin 'Ianuarius' (month of Janus)

Usage Note

Janvier is always masculine and never capitalised in French (en janvier = in January). In France, la galette des rois (king cake) is the traditional pastry eaten throughout January to celebrate Epiphany. Unlike English, French months do not take a capital letter.
