Usage Note

Infidèle describes a person who is unfaithful in a relationship, but also an inaccurate rendition — une traduction infidèle is a loose or unfaithful translation. Historically it was used as a noun to mean a non-believer or pagan (les infidèles). The word does not change form between masculine and feminine.
