Usage Note

Incorrect covers both factual error (une réponse incorrecte = a wrong answer) and social impropriety (un comportement incorrect = rude behaviour). The feminine form is incorrecte; the adverb is incorrectement. In formal contexts it is a milder, more distanced word than faux (just 'false') or impoli (rude).
