hate
Usage Note
Haine is a strong feminine noun for deep hatred. The h is aspirate, so no liaison: la haine, not l'haine. The verb haïr (to hate) is irregular; its singular present forms (je hais, tu hais, il hait) drop the diaeresis, which returns in the plural (nous haïssons). Haineux is the derived adjective meaning 'hateful'.
Examples
"La haine ne mène nulle part."
Natural Translation
Hatred leads nowhere.
