Usage Note

Galoper describes a horse moving at the gallop, but also applies figuratively to people running fast or imagination running wild (son imagination galopait). The noun galop names the gait itself, and au galop means 'at a gallop' or colloquially 'quickly'. The related galopade refers to a galloping rush.
