furax

furious, livid

adjective fü-RAHKS Rare

Usage Note

Furax is a colloquial, invariable adjective — it does not change for gender or number, so both il est furax and elle est furax are correct. It is informal and mostly used in spoken French among friends. A slightly stronger near-synonym is hors de soi (beside oneself with anger).

Examples

"Il était furax après l'annulation du match."

Natural Translation

He was livid after the match was cancelled.
