Usage Note
Espagnol is the adjective and masculine noun for Spanish (language or person); the feminine is espagnole. When referring to the language, l'espagnol is used without a capital (parler espagnol — to speak Spanish). As a nationality noun it takes a capital: un Espagnol (a Spaniard). The feminine plural les Espagnoles refers to Spanish women.
