enticher

to become infatuated, to be smitten

verb ahn-tee-SHEH Rare

Usage Note

Enticher is almost exclusively used in the reflexive: s'enticher de quelqu'un/quelque chose ('to become infatuated with someone/something'). It implies a somewhat excessive or irrational attachment. The non-reflexive form is archaic. Il s'est entiché de cette idée means 'he became obsessed with that idea'.

Literal Translation

She herself-became-infatuated of this unknown musician.
