emménager

to move in, to settle in

verb ah-meh-nah-ZHEH Less Common

Usage Note

Emménager specifically means to move into a new place of residence — the opposite, moving out, is déménager. The two are easy to confuse. A memory trick: em- (in) vs dé- (out). Aménager (without the extra 'm') means to fit out or arrange a space.

Examples

"Ils emménagent dans leur nouvel appartement."

Natural Translation

They are moving into their new apartment.
