Usage Note
Abri is used in the phrase à l'abri de meaning 'sheltered from' or 'safe from' (e.g. à l'abri du vent, out of the wind; à l'abri du besoin, free from want). Un abri anti-aérien is an air-raid shelter. The verb abriter means 'to shelter' or 'to house'.
