Usage Note
Démangeaison is the physical sensation of itching, but it is also used figuratively for an irresistible urge: avoir la démangeaison de voyager — 'to have the itch to travel'. The related verb is démanger: ça me démange means 'it's itching me' or 'I'm itching to do it'. The plural démangeaisons is more common in medical contexts.
Examples
