Also means

awake, up

Usage Note

Debout is invariable and describes being in an upright position or simply out of bed: lève-toi, debout ! ('get up!'). It is also used figuratively for resilience: rester debout ('to keep standing / to survive'). Debout ! alone functions as a sharp command to get out of bed or to stand up.

He stays standing all night.
