Usage Note
Césarienne is named after Julius Caesar, according to a long-standing tradition that he was born this way (though historians debate this). In medical usage, accoucher par césarienne means to give birth by caesarean. The procedure is also informally called une césarienne d'urgence (emergency C-section).
Examples
"Elle a accouché par césarienne."
Natural Translation
She gave birth by caesarean section.
